Film depicting the missionary work in India and Pakistan of members of the Matthews family. Footage includes the movements of refugees during the 1947 partition of India, agricultural practices, educational outreach, bazaars and markets, celebrations, and weather conditions. The film also includes brief footage taken of Matthews family members at their farm in western Pennsylvania in the 1930s. Narrated by James Matthews Clements (1916-2002). Transcript added. Among the members of the Matthews family appearing in the film are the narrator’s father, Reverend Ernest Vinton Clements (1886-1959); mother, Sarah Emily Matthews Clements (1885-1978); brothers, Chatham Glenn Clements (1919-2005) and Ernest Vinton Clements (1921-2013); maternal uncle, Harvey McMurray “Mack” Matthews (1889-1973) and his wife Elizabeth; maternal aunt, Martha Mabel Matthews (1887-1942); maternal grandfather, Chatham Glenn Matthews (1857-1940); maternal grandmother, Margaret Jane “Maggie” McMurray Matthews (1863-1938); and maternal cousins Harvey Glenn Matthews (1926-2008), Eleanor Elizabeth Matthews (1935-2014), Freda Ann Matthews (1923-2009) and Robert “Bob” John Matthews (1921-2005). Appearing also are fellow missionaries Reverend James Garfield Campbell (1881-1956), his wife Mabel Vescelius Young Campbell (1884-1957) and daughter Joan Vescelius Campbell (1919-2014); and Laura MacLachlan (1914-2002), Dora Whitely (1884-1943), Mary Kyle (1884-1968).
